Privacy Policy — Pocket Scan — Offline Document Scanner & OCR
The short version
Pocket Scan collects no data. Scanning, enhancing and OCR all happen on your device. Your documents are never uploaded anywhere — there is no account, no cloud sync and no server for them to go to.
Data we collect
None. Pocket Scan has:
- No user accounts and no sign-in
- No analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs
- No ads at all
Camera and your documents
- The camera permission is used only when you scan. Photos you take or import from your gallery are processed locally on your device, including in airplane mode.
- Text recognition (OCR) runs on-device. For some writing systems, an OCR language pack may be downloaded once so it can then work offline; your documents and their text are never sent with or during that download.
- Exported files (PDF, JPG, plain text) are created on your device and written only where you choose. Sharing or printing happens only when you tap Share or Print, and is handled by the Android system and the app you choose — never by us.
- If you scan an ID or passport, its number is shown masked (only the last characters) in lists and search results. The full document stays only in your on-device library.
Information stored on your device
The app keeps the following only on your device, to make the app work:
- Your document library: scanned pages, document names, scan modes, folders and the text found by OCR (so you can search your documents).
- Settings: your default scan mode and filter, OCR language, theme, the daily free OCR counter, and whether Pro is unlocked.
This information never leaves your device. It is deleted when you delete the documents, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app.
Purchases
If you buy Pocket Scan Pro, the payment is processed by Google Play under Google's own privacy policy. We do not receive or store your payment details.
Children
Pocket Scan is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. It contains no ads and collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this same address with a new effective date.
